Welcome to the Arab-West Foundation website!
Established in 2005 as a non-profit organization, the Arab-West Foundation is registered in the Netherlands as Stichting Arab-West Foundation. Our aim is to encourage and promote tolerance, understanding and dialogue between Muslim and non-Muslim communities and societies as well as the Arab and Western Worlds.
Following 9/11 and the series of uprisings that shook the Middle East in 2011, domestic communities in the region as well as relations between the Arab World and the West have become increasingly polarized. Syria, Iraq and Libya have been torn apart by civil war and this ongoing violence has radicalized a number of groups throughout the region. We want to contribute to stability and prosperity across the Arab World and in particularly Egypt and believe that dialogue – and the need for people to be informed – is the key to forming non-violent solutions.
The Arab-West Foundation in the Netherlands is the owner and publisher of
Arab-West Report (ISSN number 2210-3597). Arab-West Report, in 2022 renamed Dialogue Across Borders (ISSN number 2949‐6934), commissions the Center for Intercultural Dialogue and Translation in Egypt (CIDT) to facilitate production. The Center for Arab-West Understanding (CAWU), also based in Egypt, contributes some content, as per agreement. We have a large network across the Middle East and North-Africa as well organizations in Europe with similar aims.
