Opt-in and Opt-out to AWF
Lists, Subscriptions and Publications
However, if you have opted-in
to ongoing e-mail communications, we may share your details with AWF
affiliated partners for the purpose of communicating information to
you by email about activities relevant to you. In all cases our
e-mails to you (and those of our partners) will give you the
opportunity to 'opt-out' of further e-correspondence.
What types of information do
we collect and store?
The type and amount of
information we receive and store depends on how you use the websites.
You can access most of our pages without telling us who you are and
without revealing any personal information. Our sites are hosted
externally, which means that the servers are managed and maintained
by the host providers, from whom we have reciprocal agreements with
regard to privacy of user information.
Our web servers collect
anonymous logs during user visits to the websites. This information
is used to create aggregate statistics, for example about when our
websites are accessed, the pages which refer visitors to our sites,
the type of web browsers visitors use and which pages are viewed.
These statistics help us understand how our sites are used and
provide us with valuable information for improving our sites in the
future.
We do not collect personally
identifiable information (such as your name, address, phone number or
e-mail address) on our sites unless you choose to provide it, for
example by participating in an online survey or questionnaire,
signing up to a newsletter, applying for membership to access our
data archives or applying for a job online. These personal details
are kept confidential and are stored securely only for as long as
they are required for the purpose for which they were given. The
information you provide will not be sold or rented nor will it be
shared with third parties unless we have your permission or under the
following circumstances:
On-line surveys /
actions: if you take part in an on-line action such as a survey and
express your willingness to receive further information, we may
share your contact details with AWF affiliated partners. They may
then send you information about their particular activities.
Payment Processing: We
currently do not have online payment processing. If you have made a
payment or a donation, your information is not entered into our
e-database unless you are subscribing to an e-service. Your e-mail
address and other personal data will be retained by AWF in a secure
environment, and will only be used in association with the ongoing
support of your account, or if you have opted to receive additional
communications. AWF does not pass this information on to third
parties in any form, under any circumstances.
E-mail lists: if you
join any of our e-mail lists you will automatically receive
information from us via e-mail. Your e-mail address and other
personal information will be retained by AWF or its affiliated
partners and its service providers in a secure environment, and will
only be used to send you email updates, facilitate your
participation in online advocacy actions, and/or send your "Tell
a Friend" email, depending on the options you choose when you
use the site.
Use of cookies
A cookie is a text-only piece
of information that a website transfers to your computer's hard disk
so that the website can remember who you are. A cookie will normally
contain the name of the internet domain from which the cookie has
come, the "lifetime" of the cookie, and a value, usually a
randomly generated unique number.
Cookies are rarely used on
AWF websites. Where used, they control the behavior of automatic
pop-up windows to ensure that such windows do not pop up every time
you visit the relevant page. Instead, once you have visited a page
which contains an automatic pop-up window, a cookie may be deposited
on your computer to ensure when you next visit the page the pop up
window does not appear.
Cookies are not used by AWF or affiliated
partners to monitor you or your movements across the website. To
control how cookies are used on your computer please read the help
information supplied with your internet browser software.
