About Arab-West Foundation

Welcome to the Arab-West Foundation website!

Established in 2005 as a non-profit organization, the Arab-West Foundation is registered in the Netherlands as Stichting Arab-West Foundation. Our aim is to encourage and promote tolerance, understanding and dialogue between Muslim and non-Muslim communities and societies as well as the Arab and Western Worlds.

Following 9/11 and the series of uprisings that shook the Middle East in 2011, domestic communities in the region as well as relations between the Arab World and the West have become increasingly polarized. Syria, Iraq and Libya have been torn apart by civil war and this ongoing violence has radicalized a number of groups throughout the region. We want to contribute to stability and prosperity across the Arab World and in particularly Egypt and believe that dialogue and the need for people to be informed is the key to forming non-violent solutions.

The Arab-West Foundation is part of the Intercultural Dialogue Group, which is a collective of three legal entities that cooperate and support the production of the electronic magazine and academic database Arab-West Report (registered under ISSN number 2210-3597 in the Netherlands). Arab-West Report has been producing interviews, background reports and longer academic papers to facilitate dialogue and promote understanding in local communities as well as aid policy makers and researchers. The database can be accessed here.
